New Take-Back Bin Allows for Easy Disposal of Unused Meds

We are excited to announce that PTHA now has its very own Medication Take-Back Bin for easy disposal of leftover, unused and out-of-date prescription and over-the-counter medications.

In an effort to help reduce the risk of drugs in the home that can potentially harm children, teens or adults, we have set up a secure, safe drop-off location in the pharmacy lobby – available for use by patients and staff during regular business hours.

You can dispose of:
• Unused or expired over-the-counter medication
• Unused or expired prescription medication (including Schedule II-V Controlled Substances)
• All medications should be in original container, packaging, or sealed bag

Please note our Medication Take Back Bin CANNOT ACCEPT:
• Thermometers
• Needles (or sharps of any kind)
• Aerosol Cans
• Illegal Drugs
• Herbal Remedies or Vitamin Supplements
• Cosmetics or Personal Care Products
• Empty Medical Devices
• Batteries

Medications should never be flushed down the toilet, as traces of drugs can appear in community drinking water. Proper drug disposal protects our water, land, and animals from the harmful effects of leftover medications being flushed down the drain.

We’re happy to provide our patients with a safe, secure opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and make their homes and communities safer.
